About Us

Car Coverage Guide exists because the four lines that make up a car policy are named badly. Liability, collision, comprehensive and uninsured motorist tell you almost nothing about what they do, and the numbers printed beside them are doing most of the actual work.

What we publish is definitional rather than promotional: what a term means, what it covers, where the limit bites, and the decision it quietly implies. The declarations page gets particular attention, because it is the one document that summarises everything and the one most people have never read to the end.

Everything here is general information about how car insurance works in the United States, not advice about your policy, your claim or your circumstances. Cover terms, programme rules and legal requirements vary by insurer and by state, and they change. Confirm anything that matters with your own insurer or the relevant regulator before relying on it.
